I make plate armor. I do not make leather armor, but such is worn underneath plate. Thus a wise armorer will know about arming leathers. Chainmail patches are often sewn into them to cover the weak spots under the arm, inside the elbow, and behind the knee, because most plate armor does not cover everything.
